Bhubaneswar: A 228-ball 233 run by Shreyas Iyer helped Mumbai to extend their dominance against Odisha in the Day 2 and declared their first innings 602 for 4 of the fourth round of Ranji Trophy showcased more spectacular performances at Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy, Mumbai on Thursday.
Returning after a period away from the game, Iyer would be thrilled with this performance, hoping to maintain momentum in the upcoming matches. Siddesh Lad contributed an unbeaten 169, while Suryansh Shedge provided valuable support with a rapid 79 not out. Mumbai added 217 runs to their overnight score of 385 for 3 and declared the first innings 602 for 4.
In reply, Odisha scored 146 for 5 at stumps. Odisha suffered early set back as the opener Swastik Samal sent back to pavilion without opening his account. However, Anurag Sarangi (39) and Sandeep Pattnaik (79 n.o;) duo stitched 107 runs for the second wicket and consolidated the innings.
Mumbai bounced back as Odisha captain Govind Poddar and Biplab Samantray were dismissed without scoring a run. Mumbai bowlers Shams Mulani and Himanshu Singh pocketed two wickets each and pushed Odisha to back foot.
