Mumbai, Apr 8: Former Indian cricketer Kedar Jadhav on Tuesday joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at the party headquarters at the Marine Drive in Mumbai.
As per reports, Maharashtra minister and state BJP Chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule formally inducted Jadhav (40) into the saffron party fold.
Notably, Jadhav has played for Maharashtra in domestic cricket and four franchises in the Indian Premier League (IPL) including Delhi Daredevils, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Chennai Super Kings, and Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Kedar Jadhav, born on March 26, 1985, in Maharashtra’s Pune, is a talented middle-order batsman. He made his One Day International (ODI) debut for India in 2014 against Sri Lanka. In his career, he played 73 ODIs, scoring 1,389 runs with an impressive average of 42.09. He also took 27 wickets with his handy off-spin, keeping an economy rate of 5.15.
Jadhav played some important innings for India, but he is best known for his brilliant 120-run knock off just 76 balls against England in Pune in 2017. In that match, India was struggling at 63 for 4 in the 12th over. Jadhav and then captain Virat Kohli put together a memorable 200-run partnership to successfully chase a big target of 351, leading India to an exciting win.
On June 3, 2024, Jadhav officially announced his retirement from all forms of cricket, bringing an end to a career that lasted nearly 17 years, from 2009 to 2024.
