Bhubaneswar: Odisha has proudly secured 7th place at the 24th National Para-Swimming Championship, amassing 101 points. The three day event which concluded at Goa on Tuesday, featured 518 swimmers from 28 states, and Odisha’s para-swimmers delivered strong performances.
The Odisha Para swimming team delivered an outstanding performance, securing a total of 26 medals in the championship. The team won 13 Gold, 10 Silver, and 3 Bronze medals, showcasing their excellence and high performance at the national level.
Odisha’s contingent, competing against the nation’s best para-athletes, displayed remarkable resilience and talent, solidifying the state’s position as a rising force in the sport. This year’s championship also marked a significant increase in participation, with 231 debut swimmers, many from Odisha, showcasing the state’s commitment to nurturing new talent.
Karnataka emerged as the overall champion, but Odisha’s para-athletes have made a notable impact. The state’s success highlights the effectiveness of Odisha’s sports development programs and the bright future of para-sports in the region. This accomplishment will serve as inspiration for many aspiring para-athletes, reinforcing Odisha’s dedication to inclusivity and excellence in sports.
