Bhubaneswar, April 22: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Tuesday called for the intervention of the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST) into the tragic death of a tribal man during an eviction drive in Rourkela.

The incident took place during a protest against the eviction for a railway line project linked to the Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP). The victim, identified as a 35-year-old Ettua Ekka from Barkani village in Sundergarh district, reportedly died after being hit by an excavator used in the construction work.

The BJD has condemned the incident and demanded a thorough investigation to ensure justice for the victim and his family.
