Bhubaneswar, April 22: A tourist from Odisha, Prashant Satpathy, was tragically killed in a militant attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on Tuesday. Prashant, a resident of Remuna in Balasore district, was visiting the region with his wife, Priyadarshini Satpathy, and their eight-year-old son for a holiday when the incident occurred.
While the family was enjoying their time in the picturesque area, Prashant was unexpectedly shot during the attack, according to sources. He was later reported to have succumbed to his injuries.
Prashant was employed at the Central Institute of Plastics Engineering and Technology (CIPET) in Balasore. The tragic incident has left the family and the community in shock.
Meanwhile, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and leader of opposition Naveen Patnaik condemned the terror attack.
“Strongly condemn the cowardly attack on tourists in #Pahalgam, South Kashmir. Violence has no place in our society. Heartfelt condolences to those who lost their lives. Praying for the speedy recovery of the injured. Odisha stands in solidarity with the victims and their families during this difficult time,” Majhi posted on X.
Naveen Patnaik posted on X, “Strongly condemn the cowardly terrorist attack on innocent tourists in Kashmir’s #Pahalgam. Terrorism should not have any place in a civilized world and this dastardly act is unacceptable. My deepest condolences to the families who lost their dear ones and prayers for early recovery of those who are injured.”
