Pahalgam: Manjunath Rao, a real estate businessman from Shivamogga, Karnataka was one of the 27 casualties killed in the gruesome terrorist attack in Pahalgam on Tuesday. Rao was accompanied by his wife Pallavi and son Abhijeya on a vacation that was planned for 4 days. The milllitants who gunned down Manjunath told his wife Pallavi" We won't kill you, go and tell this to Modi" after she pleaded with the terrorists to kill her alonwith her husband.
In their last video, the couple, Rao and Pallavi, are seen thanking their tour operator for the trip before setting off on a Shikara ride. The couple had infiormed their family of their safety and whereabouts a day ago when there was a cloudburst in the region.
Moments after shooting their last video, Manjunath Rao ,lost his life as terrorists opened fire indiscriminately resulting in the death of 27 tourists including one foreign national in what could be the worst terrorist attack in the region in a decade. Pallavi, who works as a manager with the Mamcos in Birur, called her office colleagues as a resort to help and informed her relatives of the same.
The family had planned the trip to celebrate the success of their son's stellar 98% in the PU exams. " It was our bad luck that we came here, there were atleast 500 tourists, I and my son both told the terrorists " Kill us as well" and they replied " Tumko nahi marenge, Modi ko boldo", she said narrating her ordeal.
