Cuttack, Jan 31: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi visited Cuttack's Barabati Stadium today to review the final preparations and security measures ahead of the upcoming One Day International (ODI) match between India and England, set to take place on February 9.
During his visit, the Chief Minister expressed pride in hosting the match at Barabati, calling it a significant milestone for Odisha. He emphasized that this event will be particularly special as it marks the first ODI under the new government. After assessing the preparations at the stadium, he assured that everything was progressing smoothly and according to plan.
As part of the lead-up to the match, the Chief Minister also launched a special theme song, further boosting excitement for the event.
The Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) has also announced details for ticket sales. Starting February 2, around 4,000 tickets will be available for online purchase. The online ticket redemption will take place between February 7 and 9 at designated centers at Cambridge School in Cuttack and KIIT in Bhubaneswar. Redemption hours will be from 10 am to 4 pm on February 7 and 8, and from 7 am to 12 pm on February 9.
Additionally, the OCA will sell tickets at Barabati Stadium’s counters on February 5 and 6, from 9 am to 6 pm. Each person can purchase up to two tickets upon presenting a valid ID card. A total of 24,692 tickets will be made available to the public for these two days.
Sanjay Behera, Secretary of the Odisha Cricket Association, welcomed the Chief Minister and provided updates on the match preparations. Sports Minister Suryabansi Suraj, MLAs Prakash Behera and Devi Ranjan Tripathi, and Chief Minister’s Advisor Prakash Mishra also attended the inspection.
The Barabati Stadium, which has a seating capacity of 44,574 spectators, is gearing up to host the much-awaited ODI match, with over half of the available tickets being sold directly to the public at the stadium.
