Bhubaneswar, Nov 8: The Odisha government is set to introduce a new bus service connecting the four major Hindu pilgrimage sites in India, known as Char Dham. This announcement was made by Commerce and Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhushan Jena on Thursday.
During a press conference, Jena outlined the government's plan to operate bus services from Puri to Ayodhya, Tirupati, Mathura, and Brundavan. He stated, "The Odisha government has already made the decision to implement this service, and special Volvo buses have been procured for the initiative. We have secured the necessary permissions, and the routes have been finalized. We aim to launch the bus service before the New Year."
To support pilgrims, the government will offer ticket subsidies for women and other devotees. Additionally, Jena mentioned that there are plans to increase bus connectivity between Bhubaneswar and other states.
The Char Dham comprises four revered Hindu pilgrimage sites: Badrinath, Dwarka, Puri, and Rameswaram. It is believed that visiting these sites can lead to Moksha, or salvation, in Hindu belief.
