Bhubaneswar, February 17: The Odisha government is set to appoint 5,248 MBBS doctors and 126 dentists this year to address existing vacancies in the state's healthcare sector. Health Minister Dr. Mukesh Mahaling informed the Assembly on Monday that the Public Service Commission has been directed to facilitate the recruitment process.
In a push for healthcare accessibility, the minister also announced the establishment of day-care centers and chemotherapy facilities in all district headquarters hospitals (DHHs). Additionally, the government plans to set up satellite health centers in Bhadrak, Jharsuguda, Dhenkanal, Kendrapara, Subarnapur, Deogarh, Kalahandi, Jajpur, and Boudh.
These satellite centers will be equipped with ten observation beds and round-the-clock ambulance services to ensure swift patient transfers to district headquarters hospitals. Dr. Mahaling emphasized that the initiative aims to strengthen primary healthcare services by optimizing existing infrastructure.
