Berhampur, April 15: Berhampur police on Tuesday arrested Satish Mishra, alias Mauja Mishra, one of the most wanted criminals, from Jatani. Mishra has multiple serious criminal cases registered against him across several police stations.

According to reports, he was involved in the 2006 Ganesh Suna murder case and was later arrested in 2013 for his connection to the high-profile murder of Shanti Mishra in Gosani Nuagaon. Although he served jail for the latter, he was released on bail. While the court convicted 11 individuals in the Shanti Mishra case, Satish had been absconding.
During his time on the run, Satish also attempted to assassinate former Berhampur Mayor Pintu Dash by opening fire on him.
Acting on the orders of the Berhampur SP, a special police team was formed to capture the absconding criminal. The operation was led by Smrutiprava Pradhan, the Inspector-in-Charge of Gosani Nuagaon police station. Ultimately, Satish Mishra was apprehended in Jatani, as confirmed by the SP.
