Odisha: Youth kills mother over suspicion of having illicit relationship

Balasore, Feb 20: In a horrific incident, a youth allegedly beat his mother to death over suspicion of having an illicit relationship in Nilgiri locality of Odisha’s Balasore district on Wednesday.

The deceased has been identified as Kankimani Singh (45) and the incident has been reported from Baghamara village under Nilgiri police limits in the district.

As per reports, Kankimani, a widow, was having a conversation with a villager named Baya in the afternoon. Believing she was involved in an illicit affair with him, the accused identified as Durga Singh (24) allegedly attacked her with a wooden plank.

Durga hit her repeatedly with the wooden plank leading to her death on the spot.

Upon getting the information, police arrived at the spot and seized the body. Subsequently, it was sent to Nilgiri sub-divisional hospital for post-mortem. The cops have arrested Durga and are questioning him.

Further investigation into the matter was underway.
