Malkangiri, Nov 21: One Maoist was killed and a policeman was injured during an exchange of fire between security forces and rebels on Odisha-Chhattisgarh border last night.
The gunfight took place on Wednesday night when police personnel were on an operation to check inflow of Maoists to Odisha through Jineliguda forest in Malkangiri district.
Two Maoists were also arrested during the operation, a senior officer said.
The injured policeman, identified as Damaru Badanaik, is undergoing treatment at Malkangiri District Headquarters Hospital, he said.
The police have launched a combing operation in the area after two hours of exchange of fire. The deceased Maoist is yet to be identified, police said.
