Bhubaneswar, Nov 9: An online meeting was held under the Chairmanship of DGP, Odisha on Saturday regarding destruction of illegal cultivation of cannabis in the state especially districts including Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Boudh, Ganjam, Nabrangpur and Mayurbhanj.
In that meeting Addl. DGP, CID,CB, DIG Ops, DIG, SWR, DIG, SR and SSP of the districts also attended and worked out a roadmap to beef up the operation Green Clean.
The DG impressed to locate the place of cultivation by using drone, collection of human intelligence regarding topography and activities of local people indulging in cannabis cultivation, chalk out proper plan to approach the place of cultivation, mobilization of man power of different Law Enforcement Agencies i.e. Revenue, Forest, Excise etc and in case of movement of Naxal in the core area of cultivation is found, a plan of operation with available CAF/SOG has to be chalked out with the approval of competent authority.
It was also discussed to conduct regular coordination meeting between inter[1]district as well as inter departmental so that a proper co-ordination can be maintained between different departments like Revenue , Forest, Excise etc. SSPs are also instructed to discuss with the District Collectors for implementation of Alternative Development Programme in the affected areas prone to illicit cultivation and requirement of funds.
Worth mentioning, destruction of illegal cannabis cultivation has been started from the 1st week of November and will continue till end of March. During the last week’s operation destruction of illegal cannabis cultivation has been made in 267 Acre of land so far.
