New Delhi, Jan 19: Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, launched a new initiative called the "White T-Shirt Movement" on Sunday. He urged the public to raise their voices concerning the plight of workers and the growing inequality in the country.
In his remarks, Gandhi also criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party-led government, accusing them of neglecting the poor and leaving them to fend for themselves.
"The Modi government has turned its back on the poor and working class, leaving them to face their struggles alone. The government’s priorities lie in enriching a select group of capitalists, which has led to increasing inequality. Meanwhile, the hardworking laborers, who sustain the country, are subjected to injustice and exploitation." Gandhi shared these thoughts on the social media platform X.
Calling on youth and working-class individuals to join the movement, the Congress leader continued, "In these circumstances, it is our collective responsibility to raise our voices for justice and rights. With this in mind, we are launching the #WhiteTshirtMovement. I urge my fellow youth and working-class friends to join this cause with enthusiasm."
According to the Congress party, the White T-shirt Movement is intended to be the start of a powerful campaign—a platform for youth to unite workers across various sectors whose labor is essential to the nation’s well-being.
The official White T-Shirt website also featured a statement encouraging people to take a stand: "If you oppose growing wealth inequality, support economic fairness for all, demand social justice, reject religious discrimination, and believe in peace and stability, wear your white T-shirt."
