Mumbai, April 9: Actor Randeep Hooda is eager to return to the action genre after a five-year hiatus following the release of Extraction, which starred Chris Hemsworth. Hooda shared that he's always been passionate about action films, finding something "raw, visceral, and thrilling" about the genre.
Extraction, directed by Sam Hargrave and produced by the Russo Brothers, premiered on Netflix in 2020. Now, with his new project Jaat, Hooda is set to portray the action-packed character of Ranatunga. He expressed that he had been missing action roles and that Jaat offered him the ideal opportunity to dive back into that world.
"The choreography, the high-octane sequences, and the sheer physicality of the role have been challenging but also incredibly fulfilling," Hooda said. "Portraying a character who is as ruthless as he is charismatic is something I’m really excited to bring to the screen."
Reflecting on Extraction, he added, “It was my first experience as an Indian actor taking on a full-fledged action role in the West, and it was such a thrilling experience.”
Directed by Gopichand Malineni, Jaat also features Vineet Kumar Singh, Saiyami Kher, and Regina Cassandra, with each actor adding their unique intensity to the film. The soundtrack is composed by Thaman S, with Rishi Punjabi handling the cinematography and Navin Nooli editing the film. Avinash Kolla's production design creates an immersive world for audiences to experience.
Produced by Mythri Movie Makers and People Media Factory, Jaat will be released in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu on April 10.
