New Delhi, April 10: Surender Singh, a former NSG commando who took part in the 26/11 Mumbai operations, hailed the extradition of terror accused Tahawwur Rana as a major victory. Calling it a "tight slap" to Pakistan and terrorism,
Singh recalled killing two terrorists and rescuing 627 people from Mumbai’s Taj Hotel. He praised PM Modi and US authorities for facilitating the extradition.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah called the extradition a significant achievement.
Union Minister Piyush Goyal criticized the Congress for its inaction during the 2008 attacks, accusing them of "serving biryani" to captured terrorist Ajmal Kasab. He credited PM Modi's leadership for ensuring justice on Indian soil. Goyal also slammed Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena and the INDIA bloc for "appeasement politics."
Meanwhile, Senior advocate Majeed Memon welcomed the extradition but questioned the delay. He emphasized the need for a fair trial like that of Kasab and said Rana's extradition was a diplomatic success.
The Patiala House Court has received relevant trial records, and the government has appointed a special prosecutor for the case.
Rana, a Pakistani-Canadian national, was convicted in the US for supporting LeT, the group behind the deadly 26/11 attacks in Mumbai.
