Bengaluru, Mar 28: In a bone chilling incident, a software professional from Maharashtra allegedly stabbed his wife to death and later load her body into a trolley bag in Bengaluru.
The victim has been identified as Gauri Anil Sambekar (32), a resident of Doddakannammanahalli under Hulimavu police limits, while her husband and accused has been identified as Rakesh Rajendra Khedkar (36).
Police said that the accused stabbed Gauri in the neck and abdomen and later folded the whole body before loading into a trolley bag.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (South East) Sarah Fathima, the couple was from Maharashtra and had moved to Bengaluru a year ago. The house owner discovered the body stuffed in a suitcase and immediately alerted the police control room. The deceased woman had a degree in Mass Media, while her husband, the accused, worked for a private company and was working from home.
DCP Fathima added that the victim’s parents have contacted the police, but officers are still investigating the nature of the couple’s relationship. She emphasized that the case is under investigation, and further details will be revealed as it progresses.
The accused is on the run, and the police have launched a manhunt to track him down.
Sources revealed that after committing the crime, the accused called the victim’s parents. They then informed the Maharashtra police, who alerted their counterparts in Karnataka.
DCP Sarah Fathima rushed to the scene and supervised the investigation.
Police suspect that the accused, Rakesh, committed the crime around midnight on Wednesday, March 26.
