Thousands of ATMs in India running out of cash as around Rs 1,500 crore remains untraceable, here’s why & when issue might be resolved

Bhubaneswar, Apr 1: For almost a month now, thousands of ATMs across India have been running out of cash. The ATMs of one of the major private banks in Bhubaneswar as well as across Odisha is also unable to dispense cash, causing serious problems for people.

Though the exact reason behind the problem still remains unclear, it can be traced back to AGS Transact Technologies, a major player in ATM management.

According to sources, a large sum of money, possibly between Rs 1,000 and Rs 1,500 crore, which was managed by AGS Transact is missing. Banks that relied on AGS Transact to refill their ATMs are now trying to figure out where the cash went.

While the exact amount is still unknown, it's a big enough issue to raise serious concerns and needs a detailed investigation.

This issue has caused a disruption in cash replenishment services, leading to ATMs running out of cash.

Customers are frustrated because they can’t withdraw money when they need it. Many have taken to social media to express their disappointment and question why the problem wasn’t fixed sooner.

Business owners, small traders, and daily wage earners are especially impacted, as they rely on cash for transactions.

The RBI has called a meeting with the affected banks to find out the real cause of the financial mystery.

However, the concerned authorities could not be reached for comments on the issue.
