Thunderstorms and lightning expected to hit part of Odisha from April 8

Bhubaneswar, April 6: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow warning for thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds (30-40 km/h) in Odisha from April 8.

Thunderstorms are expected in the afternoon and evening across the state, particularly in Sundargarh, Deogarh, Angul, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Rayagada, and Koraput. Light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely in some areas, while other districts will remain dry.

On April 9, similar weather conditions are expected in areas like Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Cuttack, Puri, and surrounding districts. The IMD has also issued a yellow warning for thunderstorms and gusty winds for these areas.

On April 10 and 11, rain or thundershowers will continue in some districts, with dry weather in others.

The IMD also predicts a rise in maximum temperatures by 2-3°C over the next 24 hours.
