Baripada, Nov 9: Jamuna, the tigress imported to Odisha’s Similipal Tiger Reserve recently from the Maha’s Tadoba-Andhery Tiger Reserve, has been released from its enclosure on Saturday.
After due observation by the wildlife experts on the big cat’s nature in the new eco-system, it was freed into the core forest of the Tiger Reserve, said PCCF Wildlife, Susant Nanda.
The two-and-half-year-old tigress was brought from Maharashtra on October 28 and released into a soft enclosure spanning around two hectares in the core area of the Tiger Reserve the following day.
The wild cat made its first hunt on October 31 and was in good health. After monitoring her condition, the tigress was released into the wilds of the tiger reserve today.
“ A special team will watch the tigress’ movements in the forest till it fully copes up with the miscellaneous forest, said Samrat Gowda, Deputy Director of Similipal Tiger Reserve.
