New Delhi, Feb 1: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan today praised the government’s commitment to the education sector in the Union Budget for 2025-26, with an unprecedented allocation of ₹1,28,650 crore.
“Highest-ever allocation of ₹ 1,28,650 crore for the education sector in #ViksitBharatBudget2025 with several new-age initiatives," tweeted Pradhan.
The allocation is part of the broader vision of creating a 'Viksit Bharat' (Developed India) by 2047, with a focus on equipping the nation’s youth with the skills, education, and resources needed to drive India’s growth.
With focus on quality school education, skill development, innovation, research and entrepreneurship, Bharatiya Bhasha, this budget is a generational blueprint to cater to the wholesome requirements of our children and youth—key drivers who will lead from the front in realising the Viksit Bharat agenda in 2047 and beyond, he said.
Minister Pradhan noted that the budget reflects Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s unwavering dedication to building India's human capital. By making education more accessible and bolstering a culture of research and innovation, the budget aims to prepare future generations to take the lead in realizing the vision of a prosperous India in the next few decades.
“The Viksit Bharat Budget 2025-26 places India firmly on the path towards becoming a developed nation by 2047,” Pradhan stated. “The focus on people’s welfare, empowerment, and holistic growth of human capital is a key driver in ensuring that every citizen—especially the poor, youth, farmers, and women—benefit from the opportunities this budget presents.”
Minister Pradhan also emphasized that the budget's focus on empowering India’s human resources aligns with the government’s broader goals of eliminating regional imbalances, fostering rural prosperity, and accelerating job creation. This budget is designed not only to elevate the nation’s educational infrastructure but also to stimulate innovation, entrepreneurship, and employment-driven growth across India.
The Union Education Minister extended heartfelt compliments to Prime Minister Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for their visionary, pro-people, and growth-stimulating budget that caters to the challenges and opportunities of the second half of the 21st century.
