Bhubaneswar, March 2: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi with a noble gesture purchased a ‘Sonepuri hanky’ from a Boudh-based woman weaver group.
The unprecedented scene caught sight of the crowd in the Subhadra Shakti Mela, an open market trade fair of women SHG products, held at the Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar.
Majhi, after inaugurating the occasion, was taking a round across the fair ground. Meanwhile, he paused before a stall that’s showcasing handloom products, especially Sonepuri weaver’s ‘Tie & Dye’ innovations. Here, he found, a cotton hanky of his chioce, what he was longing for to collect from the country-fair.
Majhi’s top-pick, a purple-red pasapali-checker hanky, was collected from among the gross of apparels.
Following this, the women weavers hailing from the Manamunda cluster in the Boudh district, complimentarily offered shawls to CM Majhi, Dy.CM Pravati Parida and Ekamra MLA Babu Singh.
