Malkangiri, April 13:Odisha Forest officials on Sunday initiated a probe as a video that features, bludgeoning a wild bear in public view tying it to a peg, went viral.
Based on specific inputs, the forest officials, Malkangiri swung into action to spot the place and the offenders, who were seen thrashing the wildlife violently on the village street.
The harrowing scene that surfaced online, features sheer cruelty towards the bear, wherein a group of locals made the bear blood-soaked tying it with a piece of iron-chain. More shockingly, the villagers were seen cheering with joy.
On being informed of the incident that breaches the stricter Wildlife Act, the Sukma Forest Department initiated an investigation into it, suspecting the video being recorded under the jurisdiction.
Having no clues so far on the matter, the Range officials have announced a reward of Rs 10,000 for linking information regarding it.
The place of the inhumane act & the ID of the offenders, are yet to be traced out.
