Balasore, April 14: In an unusual incident of parenting, Odisha’s Balasore Police on Monday arrested a man on the charges of illegally estranging his minor son, from his mother.
Based on a Court Order, the police rescued the minor boy from Delhi who was allegedly kidnapped from the mother’s lap in 2016.
The accused has been identified as Kamalakanta Mishra was sent to judicial remand and the boy was handed over to his mother, identified as Sima Satapathy.
According to police sources, Sima had filed a complaint in 2016 alleging domestic violence by her husband.Meanwhile, Kamalakanta fled with their four-year-old son.
Acting on it, Sima moved the court again seeking custody of the child and claimed full responsibility for his care, that was granted.
In the order the court had then directed police to trace the missing child and hand him over to his mother.
After years of investigation, the Cyber Police recently tracked the accused in Delhi.
Acting on the lead, a special team rescued the boy, who is of 9-year now and apprehended the accused father.
While briefing the case and the rescue episodes of the estranged boy, Satyajit Naik, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, Eastern Range said, “A distress warrant and non-bailable warrant (NBW) was pending against the accused father. It was worked out after almost a decade and the distressed boy was united with his dear mother.”
