Bhubaneswar: Will the Indian cinema witness another mega clash this Independence Day?
While Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR starred War 2 is scheduled to hit the theatres this Independence day, a latest swirling buzz has been that Superstar Rajinikanth’s highly anticipated movie Coolie is also targeting an August 14th release, coinciding with India’s Independence Day celebrations.
Previously, the buzz has been that Thalaivar’s much awaited and much anticipated movie Coolie would be targeting May 1, 2025 for its release.
The reason for the earlier buzz has been that May 1 happens to be International Labour Day.
But the reason behind the latest big buzz has been that since Rajnikanth’s Jailer had been premiered on Aug 19, 202,3 to capture the festive mood, Coolie may follow suit on Aug 14, 2025
IMDB ANTICIPATED MOVIE LIST 2025
As per the recently released IMDB’s 2025 most anticipated movies, Rajnikant starred Coolie has been ranked at number 3; whereas the Spy Universe movie War 2 starred by Hrithik and Jr NTR ranked at number 7.
Since both movies have been ranked in the top-10 most most anticipated movies, a clash could affect the box office earnings of the movies.
Year 2024 had seen how the clash of Ajay Devgn starred Singham Again with Kartik Aryan starred Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 affected box office earnings of both movies.
In year 2023, the clash between Sunny Deol starred Gadar 2 and Akshay Kumar – Pankaj Tripathy starred OMG 2 impacted both film’s opening day and lifetime business at the box office.
If both the films – War 2 and Coolie – do release on Aug 15, 2025, given the superstars lined up, it will be dhamaka (explosive) clash of recent time.
COOLIE – RAJNIKANTH’S COMEBACK FILM
Year 2024 saw failure of Rajnikanth and Amitabh Bachchan starred Vettaiyan.
Movie buffs feel Rajinikanth will bounce back with this upcoming magnum opus - Coolie, which marks the star’s debut collaboration with director Lokesh Kanagaraj.
Coolie has the spark to burn down the existing records and re-write the new ones in the annals of the box office history worldwide. The hunch of trade pundits has been that Coolie may emerge as the biggest film in Kollywood.
Coolie is a Tamil film, originally, but is dubbed in many other Indian languages, including Hindi.
RAJNI MILESTONE
As per reports, the upcoming Kollywood thriller will be Thalaivar’s 171st film. For which, it had the working title Thalaivar 171.
Lokesh Kangaraj is known for scripting biggest history in Kollywood. In the past, his joining hands with Thalapathy Vijay proved a blast. With the maverick filmmaker having joined forces with the Kollywood legend, the excitement is at its peak.
COOLIE SHOOT WILL END THIS MONTH?
Earlier, while flying off to Bangkok for shooting, Thalaivar himself had informed the media that 70% of the filming had been completed. The actor also revealed that the current schedule is slated between January 13 and January 28.
The statement of Thalaivar hints at the shooting of the film Coolie may stretch for few more months, 30% shooting is yet to be done.
