Bhubaneswar, February 4: In a tragic case, the District and Sessions Judge in Ganjam has sentenced a woman to life imprisonment after convicting her for the murder of her 8-year-old son named Rohit. The crime took place under the jurisdiction of the Town Police Station in Berhampur.
The woman, identified as S. Gangama, was found guilty in connection with the murder that occurred on October 24, 2023.
Reports indicate that due to a family dispute, S. Gangama pushed her son into a pond which led to his death.
Initially, the incident was investigated as an accidental drowning in Bijipur Pond, and the Town police had registered the case as such. However, upon further examination of the evidence, the court determined that the child's death was not accidental, but a deliberate act of murder. As a result, S. Gangama was sentenced to life imprisonment.
