Mumbai, Nov 27: Amazon India is set to launch its own quick-commerce service, "Tez," in late December 2024 or early 2025, speeding up its original timeline in response to growing competition in the rapid delivery market.
The service is designed to challenge established players like Zepto, Blinkit, and Swiggy Instamart, who currently dominate the 10-minute delivery segment.
According to sources, Amazon is establishing "dark stores" stocked with everyday essentials to facilitate the fast delivery of goods. Recruitment is underway to build a dedicated logistics network, with the initiative being described as a "ground-up project" by Amazon’s grocery team in India.
With the recent surge in funding for rivals like Zepto, which raised $1.3 billion, Amazon’s entry into the quick-commerce market is expected to intensify the competition.
The launch of Tez will position Amazon as a major player in the fast-paced world of ultra-fast delivery, marking a significant move for the e-commerce giant in India’s rapidly evolving retail landscape.
