Cuttack, Nov 21: In response to concerns about public health and safety, Food safety team of Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) raided various food stalls in the Cuttack Bali Yatra area today and examined food quality.
The food stalls were thoroughly inspected for unhealthy conditions and poor-quality oil.
According to reports, the Food Safety Team of the CMC conducted a crackdown early Thursday morning at the Bali Yatra grounds. The operation specifically targeted food stalls where reports indicated the presence of spoiled oil and stale food items.
During the inspection, a variety of stale food and bad-quality oil were seized and destroyed. In addition, fines were imposed on the vendors found to violate food safety regulations. Four teams were assigned to carry out the operation, which aimed to ensure the safety and hygiene of food sold at the popular event.
The annual Cuttack Bali Yatra attracts lakhs of visitors every day. While the variety of shops and amusement rides are major attractions, food also draws a large crowd, with many people flocking to the fair primarily for its culinary offerings.
Worth mentioning, the CMC had also conducted raid on both the upper and lower Bali Yatra ground on November 17.
Similarly, the CMC had conducted surprise raids during Bali Yatra 2023 and a staggering 1.8 quintals of stale food were seized and destroyed, while over 2 quintals were disposed of during the 2022 edition of the fair.
