Lucknow , Apr 14: Four individuals have been booked by Hapur police of Uttar Pradesh for allegedly making objectionable gestures and passing derogatory remarks at a hoarding and statue of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar on the eve of his birth anniversary, sparking outrage among Dalit community members.
The incident, which occurred around 10 pm on Saturday, was captured on camera. In the footage, three individuals can be seen riding a black scooter and one on a white scooter. They are seen making offensive gestures towards Ambedkar’s statue and hoarding while hurling casteist slurs, police officials said on Monday.
An investigation is underway based on the video evidence, and further action will follow, police added.
