Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s para-athlete Jayanti Behera made history by winning the first gold medal for the State in the 23rd National Para Athletics Championship 2025 in Chennai on Wednesday. Behera won in the T-47 women’s 100m race clocking an impressive 13.43 seconds, securing the top podium finish. She also won another gold in the T-47 women's 400m clocking 1:01.19.
The 100 m race was highly competitive, with Keerti Chauhan (Delhi) finished second at 13.85 seconds and Bhavani Valasamgari (Andhra Pradesh) secured bronze at 14.03 seconds
Pankaj Bhue claimed silver medal in Men’s T-13 Long Jump with a jump of 5.93m. while Kalaram Patel (Chhattisgarh) and Pradipsinh Chauhan (Gujarat) won gold and bronze medal with 6.55m and 5.74m distance respectively.
Another proud moment for Odisha came as Kamala Kanta Nayak clinched the silver medal in the Men’s F-53 Javelin Throw with an impressive throw of 16.22m.
