Bhawanipatna, Jan 1: In a major success, Kalahandi Police have busted a notorious inter-state robbery gang and arrested as many as eight people in this connection. The cops have also seized cash amounting to Rs 3.51 crore from their possession along with several weapons and other articles.
The arrestees have been identified as Tahir Ansari, Hussain Khan, Jaishim Khan, Samim Ansari, Basudev Gope, Pintul Alim, and Anuj Kumar, residents of Jharkhand. They were allegedly involved in several robbery and dacoity incidents.
The gang was involved in a robbery on January 30, where they attacked the liquor shop late at night armed with guns and deadly weapons. They threatened the shop workers and looted the cash. Thereafter, they fled the scene in a Bolero vehicle (number plate JH10AP4817).
Following the robbery, Dharmagarh Police registered a case, and Kalahandi Police, under the leadership of the district SP, set up a special team to track down the criminals. After intensive investigations, the vehicle was traced to Jharkhand, and a raid was conducted.
During the investigation, local police were able to arrest two suspects, Siraj Ansari and Kamlesh Yadav, who were found in possession of crucial evidence. The rest of the gang members were later tracked to Jharkhand, where they were arrested as well.
The state's Director General of Police, Mr. Yogesh Bahadur Khurania, congratulated the Kalahandi Police and their team for their swift action and success in bringing the criminals to justice.
