Aradi, Ap 14: Maha Bisuba Sankranti or Pana Sankranti, is being celebrated on Monday in Odisha’s Akhandalamani Temple in Aradi.
Biraja Panji, a calendar or almanac traditionally used in Odisha, is being started today as it is the beginning of the Odia fiscal year according to the Anka system. The first Monday of Baisakh is also being observed today.
The temple is observing a month-long ritual called the 'Sheetala Upachara' or 'Jala chhaya' at Baba Akhandalamani Temple.
During the scorching summer, devotees collect water from rivers and bring it to offer as a sacred service to Lord Shiva, aiming to provide relief from the intense heat. The water is being offered by temple servitors.
To ensure the safety and security, the police have set up security measures at the temple. Also, barricades have been set up both inside and outside the temple for organized darshan and water offerings.
