Malkangiri, Nov 22:During a joint operation, District Voluntary Force (DVF) of Odisha Police and Special Operation Group (SOG) commandos unearthed a major Mao dump in Odisha’s Malknagiri district on Tuesday.
The underground Mao dump wherein a huge cache of arms and ammunitions along with other incriminating materials was located in a jungle between Tulsi and Kirmiti villages under the Mathili police limit.
The articles seized from the Maoist dump included one country-made gun, 105 gelatine sticks, 12 metres of Codex wire, and a number of IEDs.
Sources said a contingent of Mathili police, DVF and SOG conducted a combing operation in and around the Tulsi forest, acting on an intelligence input. Meanwhile, the secret Mao treasure was spotted by the security personnel.
According to the Malkangiri police, “This was a major jolt to the subversive and anti-national design of Maoists in this area. “We suspect that the explosives along with other articles belong to the Maoist cadres of DKSZC and they were intended to be used against innocent civilians and security forces to carry out their subversive, anti-national activities and to show their presence again in this area. In the wake of recovery, further combing and search operations are going on in this area.”
