Balasore, Apr 8: In a tragic incident, the body of a young lady constable was found hanging inside a police barrack in Odisha’s Balasore district on Tuesday.
The deceased has been identified as Yashoda Das, a native of Mandarpur under the Remuna police limits.
As per reports, some fellow constables found Yashoda in a hanging state inside the barrack and immediately brought her down. Thereafter, they rushed her to the Balasore District Headquarters Hospital (DHH), where the attending doctors declared her dead on arrival.
Upon getting the information, police arrived at the hospital and seized the body before sending it for post-mortem.
Though the exact reason behind Yashoda’s death is yet to be ascertained, her brother Tutu Das alleged that she might have committed suicide over love affair.
"After reaching the hospital, we found out that she had passed away. She was in a relationship, and it seems she may have taken her own life because of it. The full picture will become clear once the police check her phone and chat history," said Tutu.
A probe been launched into the matter to explore all angles—including professional and personal pressures, said the police.
