Odisha: One dead, another critical as crude bomb explodes while being transported

Khordha, Apr 7: In an unfortunate incident reported from Shedheiagarh village in Odisha’s Khordha district early Monday morning, a crude bomb exploded while being transported on a motorcycle, killing one person and seriously injuring another.

The deceased has been identified as Nirakar Singh and the injured person is Lulu Senapati, natives of Shedheiagarh village.

As per reports, the blast occurred when the duo was allegedly carrying the bomb on their two-wheeler. The explosion was so powerful that it killed Singh on the spot and completely destroyed the motorcycle.

However, Senapati suffered serious injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. He was later shifted to AIIMS Bhubaneswar as his condition deteriorated.

Upon getting the information, police arrived at the scene and took stock of the situation. The cops seized Singh’s body and sent it for post-mortem.

A forensic team and bomb disposal squad were also called in to inspect the area and collect evidence.

Investigation is underway to find out where the bomb came from and why it was being transported, said the police.
