Bhubaneswar, April 24: The Odisha government has announced plans to finalise its vision documents for 2036 and 2047 within the next 15 days, following consultations with public representatives, citizens, civil society members, and intellectuals at various levels, according to an official statement released on Wednesday.
This decision was made during the 7th meeting of the State Council of Ministers, chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.
With Odisha set to mark 100 years of its formation in 2036 and India celebrating a century of independence in 2047, the state government, with support from NITI Aayog, began drafting the 'Odisha Vision 2036 and 2047' initiative in August 2024.
During the meeting, Chief Minister Majhi emphasized the government’s commitment to transforming Odisha into a prosperous and developed state by 2036. He noted that this vision aligns with the national goal of making India a developed country by 2047.
The vision document is anchored on three key pillars: inclusion, prosperity, and wellness. To achieve a targeted Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) of USD 1.5 trillion by 2047—and contribute 5% to the national GDP—Odisha will need to significantly accelerate its current pace of economic growth.
“This presents both a challenge and an opportunity,” said Majhi. “It can be achieved through a collaborative environment, enhanced public-private investment, effective implementation, and technological coordination.”
