Rourkela, Apr 14: In a gruesome incident, a youth allegedly killed his father reportedly to avenge the death of his mother in Brahmani Tarang locality of Odisha's Rourkela city today. The accused has been identified as Bishnu Barma (22) and the incident has been reported from Bhalupatra village under Brahmani Tarang police limits in the city.

According to police sources, the deceased, identified as Kranti Kumar, had been in jail for killing his wife several years ago and was released in December 2024. Bishnu told the police that after getting out of jail, his father remained violent. He often beat him and also harassed women in the village.
Upon getting the information, police arrived at the scene and detained the accused son. He confessed to the crime during interrogation. The cops also seized Kranti’s body and sent for post-mortem.
Further investigation into the matter was underway.
