Odisha's 'Kandhamal Haladi' wins National Intellectual Property Award

Bhubaneswar, Oct 17: Odisha's 'Kandhamal Haladi' (turmeric) has won National Intellectual Property Award for 2021-22 getting the highest vote in the agriculture category. Kandhamal Haladi (turmeric) was the most liked geographical indication in Agriculture under the GI category. GI researcher Dr. Anita Sabat said" It's a proud moment for Odisha and Odia people. We have to promote our other Agricultural products. The National Intellectual Property Award was organized for the first time GI tag winning produces after nationwide voting of the produces. The produces that won the highest number of votes in different categories were awarded the National Intellectual Property Award, said Dr. Sabat. The GI-won properties were divided into five categories and 17 GI producers of Odisha had taken part in the voting. Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal presented the awards in New Delhi on Saturday. However, no representative from Odisha was present to receive the award.
