Bhubaneswar, April 28: Odisha Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj on Monday assured that strict action will be taken against those responsible for the irregularities in the recently held OPSC and OSSC examinations.
The minister emphasized that exams are critical for shaping careers and that any negligence or mishandling of their organization is unacceptable.
He further stated that the departments overseeing these exams will conduct thorough investigations to identify the causes of the lapses.
The minister also pointed out that the state government has recently passed a new Bill in the Legislative Assembly, aimed at enforcing more stringent penalties for irregularities in exams.
According to sources, the OPSC's Civil Services Main-2023 Anthropology exam, conducted from 9 am to 12 pm and again from 2 pm to 5 pm, was marred by a significant error. The questions for the second paper were mistakenly printed in the first paper, and vice versa, leaving candidates frustrated and confused.
Meanwhile, candidates sitting for the Odisha Staff Selection Commission (OSSC) combined recruitment main examination also raised concerns, claiming that key sections of the syllabus, including General English, Odia language, and parts of general studies, were missing from the question paper.
