Bhubaneswar, Apr 28: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday predicted that Odisha is likely to experience thunderstorms with lightning, gusty winds, hail, and heavy rainfall from April 28 to May 2, 2025.

Day 1 (Valid up to 8:30 AM on April 29)
Orange warning:
Thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 50- 60 kmph very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhargarh, Balasore, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda.
Yellow warning:
Thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places over the districts of Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Kendrapada.
Thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places over the districts of Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nawarangapur, Nuapada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Deogarh, Sonepur, Boudh, Bolangir.

The Met Department further added that squally weather with surface wind speed reaching 45 kmph to 50 kmph gusting to 55 kmph is very likely to prevail along and off north Odisha coast during next 24 hours.
It also advised fishermen to not to venture into the sea, along and off north Odisha coast during next 24 hours.
