New Delhi, April 15: After holding talks with the top Congress leadership regarding preparations for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav on Tuesday said that the opposition alliance stands united and is fully prepared to take the state forward.
Speaking to reporters, Yadav announced that another meeting with alliance partners is scheduled for April 17 in Patna.
"We had a positive discussion today and will reconvene on April 17 in Patna with other alliance parties. We’re fully prepared. Despite 20 years of NDA rule, Bihar remains the poorest state, with the lowest per capita and farmers’ income, and the highest migration rates. We want to fight these elections on real issues and highlight the government’s failures,” Yadav said.
Tejashwi Yadav met with Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, and senior Congress leader KC Venugopal here.
When asked about the chief ministerial candidate, Yadav said the decision would be made collectively.
“We’ll decide the CM face unanimously. Nitish Ji has been hijacked. This time, the NDA will not form the government in Bihar,” he added.
Bihar Congress President Rajesh Kumar echoed Yadav’s sentiments, describing the meeting as smooth and constructive.
“All decisions will be made step by step. We are united in our fight against the NDA government,” Kumar said.
Krishna Allavaru, Bihar Congress in-charge, emphasized that the alliance is focused on building a strong roadmap for the state.
“Our next meeting in Patna will continue these discussions. We are confident that the INDIA bloc will win in Bihar,” he stated.
The Bihar Assembly elections, expected later this year, will see a high-stakes contest between the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA)—comprising Janata Dal (United) led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and the Bharatiya Janata Party—and the opposition Mahagathbandhan, which includes Congress, RJD, and left parties.
