Angul, June 4: With a landslide victory, BJP candidate Pratap Chandra Pradhan won the Angul Assembly Constituency on Tuesday.
Sanjukta Singh, legacy of legendary BJD leader late Adwaita Prasad Singh & spouse of former Legislator and Minister Rajanikant Singh lost the seat with a meagre difference of 17,400 votes.
According to the Election Commission of India’s bulletin issued so far, winning BJP candidate Pratap Chandra Pradhan secured 88,868 votes as on the final round whereas contestant Sanjukta Singh secured 71, 435 votes.Similarly, Congress candidate Ambika Bhatta secured 6653 votes.
Worth mentioning, the Angul Assembly Constituency was one of the BJD’s bastions in Odisha wherein late Adwaita Prasad Singh and his son Rajanikant had been reigning here representing from the Janata Dal and Biju Janata Dal(BJD) for decades.
Sanjukta Singh, daughter-in-law of Adwaita Prasad Singh who had made her debut in politics from the ruling BJD however lost the first poll.
