Bhubaneswar, April 29 : Sambit Patra, a prominent leader from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has filed his nomination papers for the Puri Lok Sabha seat in Odisha.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha election, Sambit Patra contested the Puri seat but lost to the sitting Biju Janata Dal (BJD) member Pinaki Misra by a narrow margin of 11,700 votes or 1.03%.
This time, Sambit Patra is once again vying for the Puri Lok Sabha constituency. He expressed confidence that not only would he win the Puri seat, but the BJP would also secure victories in all seven Vidhan Sabha seats with significant margins2.
The BJD has fielded Arup Patnaik against Patra in the Puri Lok Sabha constituency. Both Patra and Patnaik had lost in the 2019 elections.
The Puri constituency will vote in six phases on May 25.
Congress has nominated Sucharita Mohanty as its candidate for the Puri Lok Sabha seat.
