Bhubaneswar, March 2: Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his heartfelt greetings to the nation as the holy month of Ramzan began on Sunday, March 2, 2025. In a message shared on the social media platform X, he stated, "As the blessed month of Ramzan begins, may it bring peace and harmony in our society. This sacred month symbolizes reflection, gratitude, and devotion, while also reminding us of the values of compassion, kindness, and service. Ramzan Mubarak!"

Earlier, on Friday, February 28, 2025, PM Modi attended the 25th edition of the Jahan-e-Khusrau Sufi music festival in New Delhi, where he praised India’s rich Sufi heritage and extended his Ramzan greetings. He highlighted the inclusive message of Sufi saints, noting how they "recited verses from the sacred Quran" and "listened to the words from the Vedas," emphasizing the shared cultural legacy that unites the nation.

The holy month of Ramzan, observed by Muslims worldwide, is a time of fasting, reflection, and community. In India, fasting began on Sunday, March 2, 2025, after the crescent moon was sighted.

Ramadan, also referred to as Ramzan, Ramzaan, or Ramazan, is a deeply sacred month in Islam, falling in the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar. During this period, Muslims fast from dawn to sunset, a practice known as Roza, which is one of the Five Pillars of Islam. The month serves as a time for heightened devotion, self-restraint, and spiritual reflection. In 2025, Ramadan commenced on March 2nd (Sunday), following the sighting of the crescent moon on Saturday.
