Ultraviolette Tesseract: Can this Radar-Equipped E-Scooter be a "Ola Killer"?

The Indian electric scooter market is heating up, and a new contender from Bangalore-based Ultraviolette is poised to seriously disrupt the status quo. Ultraviolette Tesseract is bringing a level of technology and performance previously not seen in this segment, potentially leaving established players like Ola and Ather in the dust.

Ultraviolette, already known for its high-performance electric motorcycle (which reportedly hit a top speed of 265 km/h!), is now applying its expertise to the scooter market. Tesseract isn't just another electric scooter; it's a statement. It's a bold declaration that Indian-made EVs can be both technologically advanced and competitively priced.

Sci-Fi Meets Scooter

The Tesseract's design is unmistakably Ultraviolette. It's all sharp angles, aggressive lines, and futuristic details. It has sculpted panels, angular headlights, and a "floating" tail lamp seems to be out of a sci-fi movie. Available in four colors – Desert Sand, Sonic Pink, Solar White, and Stealth Black – and riding on 14-inch wheels, the Tesseract will have serious road presence.

Tesseract with Tech Overload

This is where the Tesseract truly distances itself from the competition. It's packed with features, some of which were not available earlier in the two-wheeler segment:

  • 7-inch TFT Display: A large, full-color display with built-in navigation and a host of connected features.
  • Wireless Charging: A segment-first feature, allowing for convenient charging of compatible devices.
  • Multiple Driving Modes: Customize your riding experience to suit your needs.
  • 34-Liter Boot Space: Enough room to comfortably fit a full-face helmet.

The Game Changer: Radar-Based ADAS

The Tesseract's most groundbreaking feature is its radar-based Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS). This is a first for any scooter in India. Two radar sensors (front and rear) provide:

  • Blind Spot Detection: Warnings are delivered through haptic feedback on the handlebars, alerting you to vehicles in your blind spots. The "Omnisense" mirrors also have integrated indicators for this.
  • Rear Collision Warning: Alerts you to potential collisions from behind.

Adding to the safety suite are front and rear dashcams, offering an extra layer of security and documentation.

Performance and Range

The Tesseract offers three battery pack options:

  • 3.5 kWh: 162 km range
  • 5 kWh: 220 km range
  • 6 kWh: 261 km range

The motor generates 20.1 bhp, delivering a claimed top speed of 125 km/h and a blistering 0-60 km/h time of just 2.9 seconds. Dual-channel ABS, two traction control modes, and four levels of regenerative braking further enhance the riding experience and safety. An Ultraviolette supercharger can charge up the battery from 20% to 80% in a mere 30 minutes. The scooter weight is between 120kg to 130kg and the battery comes with a 2 Lakh km or 8 year warranty.

Price and Availability:

Ultraviolette has priced the Tesseract at an introductory price of ₹1.20 Lakh (on-road, Mumbai) for the first 10,000 customers. Which is incredibly competitive, directly challenging the Ola S1 Pro and Ather 450X. Deliveries are slated to begin in January 2026.

Disruptor on the way:

The Ultraviolette Tesseract isn't just another electric scooter; it's a technological leap forward. Its combination of futuristic design, radar-based safety features, impressive performance, and competitive pricing makes it a serious contender in the Indian EV market. While Ola has enjoyed significant success, but with Tesseract's arrival: signals a new era of innovation and competition, potentially forcing other manufacturers to up their game. Whether it truly becomes an "Ola killer" remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: Tesseract has raised the bar for electric scooters in India.
