Bhubaneswar, Nov 5: Delhi police arrested three people on Monday for their alleged involvement in the rape of a 34-year-old woman from Odisha on Oct 11 in Delhi’s Sarai Kale Khan Area.
The information was confirmed in a video message by Chief Minister Mohan Majhi in a press meet emphasizing his government's commitment to the safety of Odia citizens living outside the state.
In his statement, the Chief Minister confirmed that three accused have been arrested in connection with the case, and an auto-rickshaw believed to have been used in the crime has also been seized.
"My government prioritizes the safety of Odia people residing outside the State," he asserted, underlining the administration's dedication to protecting its citizens.
The Chief Minister also revealed that the Delhi police have been urged to conduct further investigations into the incident. The alleged assault occurred on October 11, when the victim reported being sexually assaulted in the national capital. The government’s swift response highlights its focus on addressing violence against women and ensuring the safety of Odias across the country.
Notably, the woman, after her alleged rape, was dumped on the roadside in south-east Delhi. An Indian Navy officer saw the woman and informed the police. The police took the woman to the hospital. Police found her bleeding and her clothes torn.
