Bhadrak, Feb 4: While the Irani Gang has been wreaking panic in Odisha’s Bhadrak district, its members looted a lady police officer on Tuesday in broad daylight.
Though one of the members was nabbed by locals along with the bike, another notorious member succeeded to flee from the mob’s grip, creating more concern for the locals.
The incident took place in the Bhadrak market today where Police ASI Monalisha Kar was buying some household goods. Two bike-laden miscreants snatched Kar’s necklace all of a sudden and tried to escape. However, one of them was picked by the locals after Kar raised her alarm and chased after the snatchers. On being informed, the Town Police rushed to the spot and took the accused to custody.
Worth mentioning, the same gang had reportedly looted another woman’s necklace on Sunday.
Efforts are on to reach at the escaped one. It’s why search operations and checking blocking have been escalated in the surrounding areas, said SDPO Anshuman Dwivedy.
