Kolkata, February 4: Hearing on the exemption petition filed by RG Kar MCH Ex-Principal Sandip Ghosh is likely to be conducted tomorrow.
A special Court in Kolkata will hear the case and decide whether personal attendance of Ghosh is indispensible during every trial or not.
The former and controversial principal of the institute who was in soup following the rape & murder case of a junior doctor, on Tuesday sought exemption from the case.
Earlier, Ghosh had approached the bench of Justice with a plea seeking more time before framing of the charges could begin. However, it was rejected by the court.
Besides, the five accused who are behind the bars in connection with financial manipulation case, had also sought exemption from the case under Section 205 CrPC wherein they prayed through their counsels, to get rid of personal appearance.
The four accused who had sought similar exemption from the case registered by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), are the Principal’s assistant-cum- bodyguard Afsar Ali, civil contractors Biplab Sinha and Suman Hazra and a junior doctor Ashish Pandey.
Worth mentioning, the Calcutta High Court's single-judge bench of Justice Tirthankar Ghosh directed the CBI on Januay 28, to complete the process of framing charges against the five accused individuals by February 6.
