New Delhi, April 19: A devastating incident occurred in northeast Delhi’s Shakti Vihar locality early Saturday morning, as a four-storey residential building came crashing down, claiming the lives of 11 individuals and injuring 11 others.
The collapse occurred around 3 a.m. in the Mustafabad area, prompting a massive rescue operation involving the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Delhi Fire Services, local police, and community volunteers. The rescue efforts stretched over 12 hours as responders sifted through the debris of the nearly 20-year-old structure.
Authorities confirmed that 22 residents, mainly families, were inside the building at the time of the incident. Among those who lost their lives were the building’s owner, Tehseen, and six of his family members.
The cause of the collapse is currently under investigation as rescue teams continue to clear the site and ensure no one remains trapped.
