Elon Musk plans visit to India following call with PM Modi

New Delhi, April 19: Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk on Saturday said that he is looking forward to visiting India later this year. The announcement came after a telephone conversation on Friday between the U.S. billionaire and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The discussion reflects the ongoing engagement between the two leaders on deepening collaboration in technology and innovation.

“It was an honour to speak with PM Modi. I am looking forward to visiting India later this year!” Musk shared on the social media platform X following the call.

Prime Minister Modi also posted about the conversation on X, writing, “Spoke to Elon Musk and talked about various issues, including the topics we covered during our meeting in Washington DC earlier this year. We discussed the immense potential for collaboration in the areas of technology and innovation. India remains committed to advancing our partnerships with the US in these domains.”

The phone call builds on their earlier in-person meeting held in February at Blair House in Washington, D.C. During that meeting, Modi and Musk explored avenues for strengthening cooperation between Indian and U.S. stakeholders in critical sectors such as space exploration, artificial intelligence, sustainable development, and innovation.

Following the February meeting, India’s Ministry of External Affairs stated, “The Prime Minister and Mr. Musk discussed enhancing collaboration between Indian and U.S. entities in innovation, space exploration, artificial intelligence, and sustainable development. Their conversation also included discussions on expanding ties in emerging technologies, entrepreneurship, and good governance.”

Musk was accompanied by three of his children during the Washington visit. Prime Minister Modi acknowledged their presence, sharing, “It was also a delight to meet Mr. Elon Musk's family and to talk about a wide range of subjects!”
